Brought my 2004 Nissan Altima S, 2.5L V4 in for alternator service. Alternator and battery were both fried. Contacted Rob'e Mans about wrecker service, and they recommended me to Weil Wrecker. Most inexpensive tow I've had - $65 for pickup, $3.50 a mile. Miles tracked properly, and cost was exactly what I anticipated going in. They claim to do a full rundown of the vehicle prior to, during, and after service, and they really fulfill this claim. They found a few other problems with the car that, while I was suspicious of, wasn't sure of. Itemized them for me and everything. Took it in on a Friday morning, before 8AM, got it back late Monday afternoon, as they are closed on the weekend. They offer a shuttle service from 7AM to 3:30/4:00PM, but mine and my wife's workplaces are so far away, we just thought it best to take off work. The price? A little steep at first. My service was in the $800 ballpark for alternator, battery, and labor. They did not overcharge for labor. Checked that out first. Birmingham average cost is $84/hr. and they hit that pretty much on the money. The battery was an Interstate one, $130. Alternator was $400. I asked why so expensive compared to the online ones, sitting pretty at $125-200. They cover their parts for two years, and buy better quality - ones made of better materials, and last longer. A few of the voltage errors my car was having are now gone. So there's that. The receipt was detailed, and it showed me all the things I needed to get taken care of. I talked with Rick for about 30 minutes upon picking the car up, and he explained to me the things that were wrong, as well as gave me a pretty accurate estimate of the remainder of the work needed. They also did an oil change for me, as well as topped off all my fluids. Car runs markedly better now. If you work for UAB, show your badge. It'll give you a bit of a discount. I definitely recommend them. Service was unbeatable - well-versed guys, genuine politeness.
